Why I Give: Ghada Abou Assaly

Since graduating from LAU, Ghada Abou Assaly has worked in several countries and made lasting contributions to her alma mater. She began as a senior administration executive with an advertising and marketing agency in Dubai, and while in the UAE, Assaly helped build LAUs robust alumni chapter in Dubai from the ground up. She then served on the Dubai alumni chapter’s committee for five years.

After returning to Lebanon briefly, Assaly spent several years in Chicago, where she served as a vice president at International Women Associates, an organization of women from around the world that promotes cultural exchange, dialogue and friendship. She moved back to Lebanon in 2005 and began working for a real estate development company as its administration manager, and eventually took on her current position as a human resources manager in Lebanon’s banking sector.

“The least I can do is to give back to my alma mater,” Assaly says. “I owe LAU as much as it offered me, whether education, degree, friendly environment or preparation for a good career. My alma mater means a lot to me.” Assaly’s gifts to LAU, and her years of service on the Dubai alumni chapter, have all directly contributed to making LAU an even better university.
